Horizon Europe Project Opportunities for Canadian Partners
BIC will be highlighting opportunities to partner in Horizon Europe projects as we become aware of consortia looking for Canadian partners. If you are interested in discussing opportunities to participate with European groups looking to put proposals in place, BIC is happy to make introductions with consortia’s looking for both research and industry partners in Canada. We can also make introductions to the ISED lead here in Canada who can support identifying Canadian funding streams that may be available.

HORIZON-CL5-2024-D3-02-03
The development of smart concepts of integrated energy driven bio-refineries for co-production of advanced biofuels, bio-chemicals and biomaterials is looking for industry collaborators and panel members. The project aims to develop, optimize and validate innovative biorefinery concepts to produce sustainable advanced biofuels and co-bioproducts derived from urban waste. These concepts aim the complete valorisation of biogenic wastes from cities, including the organic fraction of municipal solid waste, as well as sewage sludge and microalgae biomass from wastewater treatment plants.

Bioethanol production from lignocellulosic biomass. Researchers in this consortium are looking for industrial partner from Canada with R&D expertise in bioethanol production to join a project proposal aiming to develop integrated Biorefinery. The proposal aims to use side streams (like bark, fermentation residues…) and unutilized heat & energy streams of bioethanol process to produce added value products (biofuel and bioproducts)

BIC is Canada’s partner organization in the 19 country consortium STRONGBIONET – STRengthening and cOnnectiNG BIOeconomy NETworks to improve industry resilience, competitiveness, and growth. This project is funded under the HORIZON-CL6-2025-03-GOVERNANCE-06 call for proposals.
Acting as a true “network of networks,” STRONGBIONET will mobilize and connect stakeholders across Europe and partnering countries, promoting co-creation processes that strengthen relationships, encourage collaboration, and foster international trade and partnerships.
