TURNING CANADA’S NATURAL STRENGTHS INTO INDUSTRIAL OPPORTUNITY
Organizations across Canada’s bioeconomy are calling for coordinated leadership to convert our resource wealther into high-value products, manufacturing, and economic resilience.
SUPPORT CANADA’S BIOECONOMY
Productivity, resilience, and the “One Canadian” Economy: The Bioindustrial Solution
The Right Honourable Mark Carney, P.C., M.P. Prime Minister of Canada
The Canadian Industrial Bioeconomy Coalition representing both SMEs and large industry players in agriculture, forestry, clean fuels, and biotechnology, stands ready to deliver $400 billion annually to the Canadian GDP. This is a generational opportunity to revitalize Canada’s forest and agriculture communities, improve Canada’s energy independence, and offer bio-based solutions to Canada’s defence and self-reliance.
Canada possesses the innovation and the biomass resources to lead the low-carbon bioindustrial revolution that is happening globally (more than 25 countries including our trading partners have National Bioeconomy Strategies 3). We require coordinated leadership to integrate policy, programming and execution. The outcome of such leadership will include:
Economic resilience across all regions
A $400 billion annual increase to Canada’s GDP
Strengthened national security, energy self-reliance, and defence alignment
60,000 direct jobs
Up to $17 billion in tax revenue across all levels of government
Improved forest management and reduced wildfire risk
Significant GHG emissions reductions
Rural revitalization and long-term prosperity
Increased Indigenous participation in project development and execution
We are not requesting new funding. We propose a strategic realignment of existing program funds, procurement, and tax structures. We submit four strategic essentials requiring federal leadership to realize the "One Canadian Economy" you have championed.
