We are looking for an Engineering Manager.

This is a unique opportunity for a creative, driven Chemical Engineer ready to create a global Engineering Department from the ground up. We are solving some of the world’s biggest and most difficult problems. Aduro Clean Technologies has developed a unique chemical process that efficiently shortens carbon/carbon bonds in macromolecules such as chain growth plastics and heavy hydrocarbons. We are currently commissioning a bench scale, continuous process and are looking for an individual to create and grow an engineering team that will drive us to a pilot, commercialization and beyond.

JOB SUMMARY:

An experienced Capital Project Chemical Engineer to develop and manage scale up chemical technology systems and facilities. The Manager reports to the COO to define and scope the next phase of systems needed for the company’s advancement to commercial operations. The Manager is responsible for organizing and communicating Aduro’s plans to consultants and engineering companies for additional input, conceptual development, detailed design and procurement. The Manager is responsible for maintaining the schedule and budgets of the projects while insuring Aduro’s best interests. The Manager must work with the rest of the Engineering and R&D staff to effectively coordinate the project related work with the requirements and data of R&D and the strategy of the Management Team.

 

 

DUTIES/RESULTS:

Works with the COO and Chief Scientist to define projects, project scopes and requirements.

o Develops comprehensive project plans including budget, schedule and economic estimates.

o Defines, selects, and engages services required for conceptual, process and engineering design.

o Responsible for procurement process for project related materials including fabrication, logistics and construction.

o Responsible for interface to 3rd Party Engineering teams and outside contractors and vendors to maintain budget and schedules as laid out in the project plans.

o Maintains high level of market awareness of Aduro’s strategy, programs, features, and policies to develop responsive, timely modifications to project requirements.

o Works with R&D team to understand laboratory results, data, and R&D work plan to define the impact on project requirements and system design.

o Provides formal and informal updates to Management, and R&D on status of projects.

o Works with Aduro’s management and business development teams to engage with potential partners to:

o Provide engineering and technical support for partner engagements

o Provide strategic scope development and constraints for the successful development of partner engagements

o Solid understanding of project management fundamentals: scope, time, budget, risk, quality, integration, resource management, etc. (PMP designation a plus).

o Develop and deliver technical presentations to industry organizations, conferences and Aduro partners

o Other duties as assigned.

 

 

SPECIFICATIONS:

Education: BS Chemical Engineering or equivalent

Experience: 5+ years of experience in Process System design and management of capital projects

Qualifications:

Must have ability to work independently to plan and execute strategies with diverse Engineering and R&D teams

Must be able to set and hold priorities between multiple demands and actions

Must have excellent communication and organizational skills

Proficient computer skills including familiarity with software programs such as MS Projects, PowerPoint, Word, Excel

Familiarity or experience in Chemistry laboratory and bench/pilot operations a plus

Requires 10-30% travel

Work Environment: Primarily Remote work (Work from Home) with Office, Lab and Engineering Office/Plant Visits.
