Bioindustrial Innovation Canada Partners with Cold Plasma Group

Updated: Dec 13, 2022

SARNIA, Dec. 13, 2022 – Cold Plasma Group Inc. (CPG), a Canadian-founded company focused on commercializing ‘smart’ plasma sterilization machines, is pleased to announce a recent investment from one of the country’s leading national business accelerators, Bioindustrial Innovation Canada (BIC). CPG’s goal is to provide cost-effective, turnkey solutions to satisfy the rigorous sterilization demands of the agricultural and medical sectors. CPG has developed a platform technology and the next generation of technology-integrated ‘smart’ plasma machines, which provide consistent, clean, and eco-friendly microbial remediation.

To assist in scaling up and breaking through the commercialization hurdles, BIC will work with CPG to support the engineering and construction of a revenue-generating pilot production-scale unit to process and demonstrate the company’s patent-pending platform technology. The demonstration unit will allow CPG to conduct trials, test, and optimize the technology for several products, including seeds, cannabis, and post-consumer medical waste.

BIC has been able to support companies like CPG and help them accomplish amazing results thanks to Government of Canada funding through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) totalling $27 million.

About Cold Plasma Group (CPG)

CPG is a Canadian company co-founded by Dr. Florina Truica, a plasma scientist and engineer with experience in commercializing novel products and technologies. She has developed an innovative cold plasma technology to offer eco-friendly, non-toxic, and clean sterilization. CPG uses this patent-pending technology as a platform to create turnkey solutions through technology-integrated (‘smart’) plasma machines. This is a game changer for the Agriculture and Medical sectors. CPG technology and equipment effectively sterilize agricultural products, such as seeds and cannabis, without damaging quality or therapeutic properties. Plasma processing can increase germination rates of seeds and promote plant growth, which increases crop yields and shorten harvest time. CPG technology can also quickly and safely sterilize single-use and disposable PPE (such as N95 respirators) for repeated re-use, eliminating waste and securing supply chain.
