Brantford, ON (June 23, 2021) — The Government of Canada has awarded $300,000 CN to GREENMANTRA to develop an efficient and cost-effective system for recycling Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) being disposed of by Canada’s health care sector and the general public. Disposable PPE such as medical masks, respirators, and surgical gowns are mostly made with petroleum-based, non-biodegradable polymers. The physical form and level of contamination limits the viable outlets for PPE waste streams. GREENMANTRA’s innovative advanced recycling technology upcycles these “hard-to-recycle” PPE streams into high-value specialty polymers and additives.

KINGSTON, ON, June 29, 2021 /CNW/ - With the start to the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan less than a month away, the focus on safety protocols for athletes and staff is perhaps at an all-time high. But beyond just the obvious COVID-19 protocols, a Canadian company's proven, proprietary technology has been selected to help ensure open water athletes and staff are kept safe from other potential infections during the Games.

The Tokyo Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games (TOCOG), the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and various individual event Unions (e.g.: International Triathlon Union [ITU]) selected TECTA-PDS as the exclusive testing solution for all Olympic open-water event venues, ensuring water safety by testing for the presence of E. coli.
